2010 and the garden Options

Hi Folks

i went for a coffee up town today with Hubby .

i went in a shop to buy some bird food and its a bit of a junk shop and they where selling seed potatoes
and seed onion ...??/
But you don,t chit them yet do you ???.I supose March time would be the earlerist ?

but suppose thats only 8 weeks away ???
i am planing more rasied beds and a lot more veg in every little space and spud growing .
Do i need too think about getting seedlings going ?Or wait a bit .
Did buy a veg growing Magazine .

I know spuds are good in pots - any old containers - we did them at work last year and managed not to kill 'em. Different varieties at different times i think.... Im not very good on gardening advice, i go on trial and error and ask at garden centre - clear instuctions! ....but i will ask Paul - i do know with changing climate that books are sometimes out of date nowadays...
Magazine sounds a good idea! xxx

well i normally grow things and have done for few years now quite depressed that i cant do anything this year as we discovered the other day that the brick wall is falling down into next door so have to scrape everything to save for that now, hope you enjoy growing them i used to love it when you see them grow.

Hi Chrissie

I think it's way too early to be thinking of chitting potatoes and starting seeds off, especially in this cold weather. I shan't be sowing any seeds before March at the earliest. I suppose you could start them off if you've got somewhere really warm to keep them, but I find that if you sow them later they usually catch up with the earlier ones.

I can't really think about the garden right now, I just want to keep warm. No doubt when the sun shines and the birds start singing, I'll get enthused.
